About

Places to See in Williamsport

In the 1800s, Williamsport was the Lumber Capital of the World, with all the attendant wealth that implies. Today,
visitors can walk along Williamsport’s Millionaires’ Row National Historic District to admire the Victorian architecture from the lumber era or take a ride on a replica trolley. The seat of Lycoming County, Williamsport is located between the west branch of the Susquehanna River and Bald Eagle Mountain. The town is surrounded by more than 300,000 acres of state gamelands, making the area popular with hunters and outdoors enthusiasts. While you are visiting, you can cruise the Susquehanna River aboard the Hiawatha Paddlewheel Riverboat; ride or hike along the Pine Creek Rail Trail or along the riverwalk right in town; or catch a fly ball
at BB&T Ballpark at Historic Bowman Field as you watch the Williamsport Crosscutters. Indoors, the Community Arts Center produces cultural events and performances. Williamsport also hosts the Little League World Series every year; a museum pays homage to this competition for the championship of America’s national pastime. Make sure to stop by the Lycoming County Visitors Center at 102 W. 4th Street, Williamsport, and the friendly staff can assist with all your travel needs. The center is open every day of the week.
